    I am in Eastern Kansas (Leavenworth). I have a small flock of very nice BCM's but no Roo as of now. I just hatched some eggs and will be picking up a few more birds next week in Texas (hopefully). Love hearing from the Kansas folk. Thanks for trying to get a dedicated thread.

    I would not cull the little guy. I bet he adapts and has a great quality of life. In the wild he may be a easy meal for some predator, but I bet he will be your favorite duck if you give him the chance at life.

    2 cuckoo maran roosters 4 free in about 3 weeks

    How can you tell they are roosters at that age. I have some Cuckoo Marans I hatched out at Christmas and I am curious on how to tell a female from a male at that age. Thanks

    I would use mineral oil, may help soften it up better than KY, more penetration of the mass.

    Cuckoo Marans hatching

    My first little Cuckoo came out of the egg tonight. Hopefully more to follow. He is sure a loud one, my wife thought it was a mouse in the pantry and didn't want to go in there until she remembered I had my incubator stuck in there. Pics to follow tomorrow.

    Any ideas of what causes Green Liquid.....

    Most likely a psuedomonas infection. That would give you the green liquid, although I would suspect a foul odor from the egg. But who really knows without a culture.
