    Kind of blurry, but you get the picture. The lower half of the back is bare except for the pin feathers. Most of the time the wings cover the spot... Most of the other black jersey giants look like this too.

    Not from my chickens -- which are sleeping right now. This is what their entire lower backs look like though. Some pin feathers are more developed than others, but they don't seem to be growing all that fast.

    If you have a light on them, lowering the temperature will stimulate feather growth, and extra protein intake like BlackBriars said. Hard Boiled egg is good.
