Water, water everywhere is it safe?

Lately we see lawyer ads for Camp Lejeune for poisonous groundwater and drinking water contamination. Way back in the 1950's to the 1980's. It's also scary to think of all those chemicals used, to make our potable drinking water safe to use, at the municipal water treatment plants nationwide...

Rats & Mice games begin, Solutions?

Yes that did work here too. Until the environmental groups on the West coast banned a lot of the stuff that works each year. Some people go out of State to buy the products to use. :(🐔

Rats & Mice games begin, Solutions?

Have tried the usual methods, keeping food stored in metal garbage cans. The use of mint family sprays, even live plants, sometimes that does attract them more, than repel. Use sticky traps, unfortunately a couple small birds got stuck. Poison works somewhat, the good stuff the environmental...

Why does the flock start to pick on one chicken??

Update - My post here is placed on a new thread.

Why does the flock start to pick on one chicken? Lowest chicken in the pecking order.

How to protect your lowest hen on the pecking order from older hens? I noticed the older hens are territorial in their roosting and feeding, protecting their stuff from the addition of new hens to the flock. I had four original flock barred rock hens, now just two, have two middle barred rock...

    Broody but not eating

I am not sure if my new hen is broody or hiding because she is the lowest hen being pecked by the older hens, does it calm down eventually for the hen? I had four original flock barred rock hens, now just two, have two middle barred rock hens and two new young hens - mixed they both have...

    Broody but not eating

Not sure, I have 2 young hens, one is doing the same thing too. She's been hiding out in the nest box, she is also low chicken on the totem pole, getting chased and pecked by the older hens. Her buddy comes in to check on her.

Why does the flock start to pick on one chicken??

I had four original flock barred rock hens, now just two, have two middle barred rock hens and two new young hens - mixed they both have subdued colors similar to the rocks. The new hens are about about 6 months old. The older hens are about 5 years old. The newer hen is a little darker in color...

    chicken coop heater pictures

The upgrade to sweeter heater brand is much better, it does infra heat, so it won't heat the air. The heater warms the hens body, that saves electricity better than the red bulb. The sweeter heater can be used for other pets, dogs & cats too.

Do chickens naturally perch to sleep? Mine won’t

It's interesting how chickens are territorial when it comes to perches. the original hens didn't let the young hens roost inside the henhouse without bonking them on the head. Those young hens perch on the roof instead. Now have two younger hens that I tried to place inside the henhouse, no go...
