I'm pretty sure she's dropping them from the perch. They're usually cracked at one end, not totally shattered. The eggs wouldn't break if they were laid under the perch because there is a layer of pine litter on top of the concrete. I agree I need to keep them from eating the broken eggs, but...
I got 2 new chickens recently. They are of laying age. Between the 3 chickens I have, there are 2 nesting boxes, so the ladies aren't cramped for laying space. I've found eggs twice in the nesting box. But I keep finding cracked eggs under their perch. So I'm guessing one of them is...
Ive tried oil, just forgot to add it to the list. She won't eat anything unless I can put it in a syringe and fill her crop, and even then it won't pass the crop. I've had her so long its hard to think about putting her down if she's still walking. I only have one other hen so I've been...
You may have seen some of my other threads over the past few weeks. I've got a hen who has an enlarged, squishy crop, and nothing much seems to be passing through it. She's emaciated and won't eat but will drink water. When I vomit her, the liquid that comes out does not smell bad. Its just...
I used the Ivermectin pour on, so 3 drops on my light weight hen. I've got a huge fenced in coop so I can't imagine I'm going to be able to dust it all, but I'll try. She's not in the coop right now so I'll treat everyone else and dust when I put this one chicken back in the main coop.
How long does it take Ivermectin to kill mites? I put 4 drops of the pour on Ivermectin on one of my hens yesterday and I can still see lots of mites moving in the feathers. Do it take awhile to work?
I don't think its bloated. Its hard to tell because there is still meat left in her butt area but nothing in the breast area. But on her left side, near the back, near where the leg attached, it feels like there is sand/grit or something rough but not jagged in whatever is there (maybe...
She is a chicken. And she is really thin since she hasnt been able to pass much from her crop in weeks. Ive got some tetramaicyn and will try that next. I wormed her last night. Sometimes the poop is yellowish but sometimes it is more clear. The monistat isnt doing much. I forcefeed her but then...
She's a hen. She hasn't been wormed recently. I've got Ivermectin pour-on for cattle (I put a few drops on her neck) and Wazine that goes in the water. Could worms make her hold liquid in her crop? I can worm her tonight with the Ivermectin if you think it will help.
Annie
This is what it looks like most of the time. Very watery, very little actual digested material. She hasn't eaten hardly any solid food in more than 10 days.
No chicken vets around here. Last time I took a hen with an impacted crop to the only vet that would treat her they gave us medicine (didn't work), then did surgery to the best of their regular vet ability and we had to put her down anyway (after $300+ bill). They told us up front they didn't...
Did it take all of the pieces? I'm trying that right now and can't tell a difference after the first 2 pieces. Did you continue to vomit the chicken or just go with the monistat? Thanks for the info in advance!
