    Yawning chick

I live in coastal Georgia and although the temperature is warmer than usual for this time of year, our three week old chicks are still in the brooder - naturally. However, the other day, warm as it was, I put them outside in a little make-shift coop. I stayed with them and observed how they...

    Pasty Butt...

Two of my girls have what looks like pasty butt however, the vents "wink" at me if I blow air on them so I'm not sure if they are blocked or not. I have tried moist towels; grit; adjusting the temperature in the brooder; mash and egg yolk, but still the pasty butt lingers. help.

Many thanks for the article! My father is building a coop for my girls and he wanted to put more ventilation in than I thought was necessary....ooops. Thank goodness he's not finished yet!

    Earthworms as treats

I don't know if you have tried egg yolk, but my girls (just two weeks old) LOVE it! Under the heading Learning Center there is a great list of what you can offer chickens as treats. There is also a list what not to feed them.

When I put my hand in the brooder, this one chick runs straight over to check me out and when I hold the others, she stands guard and watches me the whole...

    Baby chick treats?

I'm fairly new to having chicks, but the six girls I have (they are 1 week old) love to eat egg yolk cut up into fine pieces. They also love the Chick Starter mixed with some warm water. I give this to them separate from their regular food (makes cleaning up a lot easier!) Anyway, they gobble up...

    Handling

Howdy! LOVE this website!!! I was hoping for advice on handling my three day old chicks - 3 Amber Links and 3 Red Pullets. The reds are smaller and one seemed a bit sluggish yesterday, however he's full of pep now and the Amber Links are full of antics...already! Anyway, I read somewhere not to...
