My chicken's crop was blocked and she just had surgery to remove the matter inside. There were a lot of pine shavings which I have used for the substrate. The coop is on concrete so I wanted something soft but cant use this anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was told pine pellets...
Mine got kicked by a horse and fractured her femur. It was brought to the vet to be put down but the vet thought she could save it. She put a pin in it and then gave her to me. The original owner also gave me her sister for a companion. I have had her for a year and she walks with a limp but...
I was going to look into a cart for my hen when we weren't sure if she would walk again after a horse kick left her with a femur fracture and she had a pin put in. There are some videos on you tube that show how to make a cart for a chicken
Great idea! I had a special needs dog who had to use a cart. The website I belonged to for these types of dogs provided support and advice that was invaluable. A member even came to my home to help me fit my dog in her cart.
Sorry for your Favorelle's condition and your loss. I live in SoCal and lost my 9mth old Favorelle 2 weels ago. Went out to mist chickens mid-day and found her on her side in the coop. Brought her in, gave her a cool bath, syuringed electrolytes but she was unable to use her legs. Later she...
What a sweet story! So glad you rescued her and it worked out great that she now has a best buddy. I hope that can happen to mine. You were really patient and it paid off. She is on top of the coop right now eating and drinking. Her food and water are there. She spends the rest of the time on...
Thanks so much for the suggestion. Funny, I had just emailed the breeder my friend got her from asking about getting another Polish. Your comment sealed the deal! She is staying on the roosts because every time she gets down they go after her. She has her food and water on top of the coop...
I am getting a 10 month old Polish Chicken. She was picked on pretty badly as a chick when my friend got her. She has tried to integrate her into her flock but she still gets picked on and is bald in the back of her head I am taking her tomorrow as a companion to my Favorelle who lost her...
My hen just completed a month of Baytril for osteomyelitis. I would like to give her probiotics to help replenish her gut bacteria. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good one?
Thank you everyone for your great suggestions. I got a brooder plate and it was too hot so it is going back. Ended up getting a infrared lamp but the bulb was broken. He to put my chicks on a heating pad since the feed store was closed. Using light when I am up during the day and a heating pad...
Was wondering if I could get some recommendations for brooder plates? Reviews on several say they either get to hot or too cold. Was hoping to hear some recommendations from those who had a good experience with theirs.
