    Are these male saddle feathers?

Well , these most definitely have to be the male saddle feathers. They’re also very helpfully a different color 😂. I keep checking all the other’s backs but so far only one male 🤞

    Are these male saddle feathers?

That darn chick hit every “Is this a cockerel?” mark. I’m more sure he’s a he than the hatchery is sure they correctly sexed “her”….but I’m still going to wait until I’m 10000%.

    Are these male saddle feathers?

😭. I was hoping that the others were “safe” because I can’t keep roosters, but I guess back to waiting.

Here’s a few more photos of him looking very rooster-ish.

    Are these male saddle feathers?

I’m pretty confident he’s male. He hit all the cockerel checkpoints except the being friendly. He’s the most timid of my 6. I was just wondering if chickens grow in generic saddle feathers first and then grow in the male feathers because it’s early to be seeing saddle feathers at 7 weeks.

    Are these male saddle feathers?

I have 7 week chicks. One of them is an obvious male, his comb was red at 5.5 weeks, his wing, neck and back feathers were slow to develop, he’s huge, etc. Are the feathers that are growing along his back the male saddle feathers or do they grow in later? (He’s the red one in the pic). If they...

Which chicken breed makes a good indoor bedroom pet?

Have you considered a pigeon? There are many available for adoption and are better suited for living indoors than chickens. There are also many breeds and they don’t all look like “street pigeons” although those can also be very sweet. They’re similar to a chicken in that they don’t use their...

    NYC area folks!

beautiful coop. raccoons are who I worry about most. We’re using hardware cloth, I’m just worried how determined they would be. I used to own ferrets and know how determined little predators can be, those guys got into the most improbable places. Hopefully the raccoons will just go across the...

    Hello from NYC

I am new to chickens. Not new to birds or pets. I just bought my 6 chicks from tractor supply 10 days ago. They are: 2 mystic marans, 2 americanas (ee?), 1 olive egger, 1 buff Orpington. At least that’s what I was told and they’re all supposed to be pullets. I learned about BYC from all the...

    NYC area folks!

Hello from Queens! Just got my chicks from tractor supply in Stonypoint. Coop is in the process of getting done. I’m scared that raccoons and possums will get them, driving my husband crazy trying to build a chicken Fort Knox 😂. Also know that there’s a hawk in the area, so unsure if I should...
