Moving turkey to a new location

Thanks! That's good to know. But will she be alright going to a new home after all that time? I want a companion for my tom, but I don't want to harm the hen in the process either.

There seems to be a misunderstanding. I don't mind them doing whatever they do. I wrote that because hatching new poults is not a priority in this matter.

Moving turkey to a new location

As per my previous thread, I'm getting my turkey tom a new mate. But it's a surprisingly hard thing to do, since a LOT of farms in my area stopped raising them due to covid. Recently I've found someone who's willing to part with a hen, but it's a 3-4 year old. Can a hen of such an advanced age...

    Unusual turkey behavior (with video)

It's been a while since I could update on the situation -thanks, work-, but here it is. So the apple cider vinegar wasn't a long term solution, shortly after he started again. We've spoken to another farmer, who said it's either slow liver failure, or he's just lonely. Called the vet again, who...

No, didn't know that. The vet didn't even mention it. Thanks for the heads up!

    Unusual turkey behavior (with video)

Thanks for the suggestion, it helped me find a solution that's been working so far! What I did was introduce apple cider vinegar into their diet on a more regular basis. If it can break up metal, it should be able to dissolve whatever is stuck in there. Day 1 - 5 liter bucket, filled with...

    Unusual turkey behavior (with video)

I see. Is there something we can do to help him, or it just has to pass on its own?

    Unusual turkey behavior (with video)

Well, looks like my second thread is also a cry for help. My 1 year old turkey tom started doing this weird pumping motion with his head about 3 weeks ago. We've already called the vet when it started, and he says there's nothing wrong with him, although the tom didn't do this behavior in front...

Help: Goslings got wet over night

Are they alright now? Just learned today that too much dampness can damage the lungs.

    Goose can't open its beak

My poor goose passed away today. Buried him next to my dog in the garden. Only one animal hospital was operational in the whole city, but they mostly took in cats and dogs. What's worse, they were even laughing at a woman who went back for the 4th time with her dog. Terrible place. Even went to...

    Goose can't open its beak

I was very afraid it would come down to that. As far as I know, the vets around here only take common pets. :(

    Goose can't open its beak

How would I check for a broken or fractured jaw? Or is that only possible at a vet?

    Goose can't open its beak

Here's a video of the drinking (?) behavior and the head shaking. Hopefully it helps. It does this all day, always in the water. Never did this before. New observation before I pressed record: Bit of leg shaking while standing. Like how weak people can't stand still for long. Don't know if it...

    Kinda new at this

Even if they just see a giant foodman, it still feels good. Especially when we prepare food in front of them, they always look so inquisitive. A nice change of pace, that's for sure.:) Just posted my problem in the goose section, any help would be greatly appreciated.
