Newly retired (Sept 2025) after 30+ years in nursing. Starting a new flock of a dozen Legbar pullets hatched between 9/1 & 9/7; looking forward to some blue eggs hopefully in November or December!
Also hoping to get a garden going in this lovely NC clay soil, though my expectation of success is pretty nil until I get the soil amended.
Loving this retired life, and enjoying Backyard Chickens!
Flock of a dozen new hens (3 months old) and they are scattering 3/4 of their feed on the floor instead of eating it! I hate putting it in the compost to clean up the coop.
