What a good job you did! I’m so happy for Margo 🥰 I am dealing with a similar issue on my bird. Forgive me for not reading the entire thread, but were you wrapping her wound? I’ve been wrapping my chicken for fear that she will tear at the delicate flesh that’s coming back in.
Yes! We have been using the non stick pads, and doing daily cleanings with saline, and then packing with neosporin, see the timeline over the last few days.
So far she’s a happy camper!!
Here’s day 3 update, we are attempting a betadyne/sugar poultice and we wrapped her again. We had to find some anti stick pads to put over it because the others were drying to almost a skin like consistency and it took forever to moisten the and peel off.
Half my chickens side skin was ripped off, about a 3” x 3” square, I’ve been using generic neosporin. And then wrapping her, some have said not to wrap but that seems a lot of surface area to be exposed, and not sure how to keep her from eating the neosporin
I’m glad your hen pulled through! She has a huge flap of skin still, I just folded it back on top of her leg and cleaned her all up. She hates getting wrapped so I’m not sure how long she needs to be getting wrapped. How did you handle yours?
This morning I woke up and one of my younger chicks not yet laying got injured, I couldn’t tell how on earth it happened. But the skin is almost torn completely off her thigh. I cleaned her really good with saline, packed it with neosporin and wrapped her. She up an alert, there wasn’t a ton of...
Thank you for that, we used the aquasol, and before that was ivermectin. It seems like the aquasol did do something as now most the birds have normal poop. The equimax is this something I can get at like tractor supply. Or Amazon? Where would you recommend? Thanks again for chiming in I feel...
Hi all we treated our flock of 7 after seeing white specks of what looked like worms in their poop.
It seemed to do well but one still has it. The small dose “Chicken” bottle is quite pricey compared to the same larger ones for goats. Can anyone recommend the dose or maybe a better alternative...
