I just moved to SW Idaho and this will be my first winter with poultry in an area with snow. Any suggestions? My birds outdoor covered pen is 48'x48' and they have numerous dog igloos and a tuff shed.
I have been having issues finding a roo that isn't going to beat up horribly on my hens. I have 25 hens and am looking for a calm roo. I want Golden Comet chicks so I'm looking at New Hampshire Roo and RIR. Anyone have experience with both and know which will be less of a jerk?
I have a guy that makes it for me directly with my own bags.
I'm going to try and switch them to
16% protein
DDG/flax/oyster shell/cracked corn/cracked wheat
I found the vitamin and mineral requirements page, so I'll double check they are getting enough with my ingredients.
My ducks are...
My Golden Cascade/Welsh Harlequin crosses are on a grain that's made up of:
20% protein
Cracked corn
Cracked Wheat
Dried Distillers grain
Canola pellets
And trace minerals
They are also supplemented with food scraps and meal worms
