5 or 6 Roosters FREE to good home!

@sourland Yes our poor babies. We do have two separate areas, but the fence is a little over 5 foot... and even with their clipped wings they can still scale it somehow. :( Plus, if we put all the roosters that we want re-homed together they may start fighting. All of them believe it or not seem...

Great article, very informative. I have considered opening a hatchery, but holy cow the amount of money you put in... I don't have THAT kind of money lol! Maybe if I only stuck to breeding a couple different breeds. I have people that buy eggs, and I know where I could sell chicks. I don't know...

    Hatching Help

It may have just been something wrong with the chick. It is not your fault they died. You did what you could. I just started incubating myself and my first chick hatched happy and healthy. The second was just a non fertilized so it did not do anything. The third was another successful hatch...

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I got 5 eggs today from 8 pullets some are laying because of their age... some may just be taking a break for a day. I had one flock from a little over a year ago, and some that are around 6 months. All may not be laying yet. The 5 eggs I got today are currently in the incubator, and will be...

New and Not to chicken life!

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I have had chickens now for about 1 1/2 years, I got them all from chicks at a local TSC. (2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have 9 chickens, and hopefully 3 more forming in the incubator. (3) What breeds do you have? I...

    Candling Dark Eggs

I am just starting out incubating brown eggs. I am pretty sure they are fertile, but it is day 5 and I have a candler but all I see is a dark blob in the egg (which I think is the yolk?). I should be seeing veins forming but I don't see anything. Is this normal?
