My husbands recent 4 month hiatus from work due to a mystery
Illness that landed him in hospital and the subsequent down turn
In our finances has got me thinking about growing my own chicken
Feed crop. Does anyone form Ontario. Canada know a supplier
Of seed mix specifically formulated for...
Went to duck house to check and see if all hatchlings were with mother duck and
Found an egg with baby duck hatching out. Can I return the egg or duckling to
Mother duck tonight or should I raise the youngster my self ?

I have been keeping an eye on my oldest and broodiest duck
Since spring when she started setting a rather large clutch of eggs.
She is a Buff Opington and her mate is a Cayuga( a last minute
Replacement for my Buff Drake who was stolen from the duck house)
Only last night there were just eggs...
Collected eggs this morning and one of the eggs seemed really light and the outside of shell was rough like that "non slip" stuff people paint on the their steps. I cracked the egg and found it didn't contain either a yolk or a white. The yolk was found in
the air sac and the membrane of the egg...
Went in to the nursery this morning to find one of my Buff ducklings on her back and her feet shaking uncontrollably. I put her
upright but she just flops over on her head. What if anything should I be doing? She is in the brooder with day old chicks.
Can anyone identify what this ailment might...
My Drake has been gone since last night. We arrived home after dark and my son locked the duck house up thinking they
were both inside. When I opened them up this morning I discovered there was only the Duck in there. She has been plodding
around the outside of the house all day with her head...
--Went to open up my Duckhouse this morning and found the Drake was not there. The duck is now going around quacking
frantically. I guess what I need to know is will she fly off to find a new mate, or will she just pine herself to death.
This is a very sad day for me as my pair has been together...
My two Dominique chicks are now 6 weeks old and doing fine but I am not sure if they are boys or girls. Opinions would be appreciated. Sorry I dont know how to upload pictures to the post but
if you can access my uploads you can see the babies.
Not sure if it is by prescription only from the vet Dawg...but if it is then it may not be an option as I would have the take the birds in to the vet. Our local vet is not a bird vet his area of expertise is Equine and he was involved in an Equine accident earlier this year and has now retired...
Not sure if I can get Valbazen...I will have to speak with my vet as you cant buy much at over the counter here that really works. So if the medication isnt on the Government of Canada resstricted drugs list the vet can prescribe it without seeing the birds. He doesnt make house calls so I would...
They are skinny and feathers are dull and straggly. Their production has declined to 0 since June of this year. I have never wormed them before so I figured they could probably benefit from
a worming. Funny I was just putting the Ivermectin back in the lock up and found I also have Piperazine...
Just wormed my chickens with Ivermectin pour on a dosage of 5 drops per bird. Its 9:28pm and has been dark since 5:00pm and they were still awake and squabbling so they didnt like it much
when I went in the coop with my helper and flashlight and poked them with my syringe ( no needle ). My birds...
If the Valbazen can be given orally to chickens why cant it be put in the water? My chickens are hard to catch so I thought something in the water would work. Is it effective against gape worms?
Thanks Dawg53....I dont really like the Ivermectin any how...I think you can use Valbazen which is available from the vet here. I am not sure about the other meds you mentioned but I will ask.
