    Sand in Coop in Michigan?

    We're in northern illinois, have sand. It's absolutely majescule in winter. Summer is meh, but we're staying with it. We did NOT like the deep litter method. Very stinky.

    We made pvc feeding tube's for our 8 chickens. We do have apparently one gonzo who wanted to empty them onto the floor. Will update on whether we need to add extensions!

    Looking for experience with pvc feeder

    I currently have a feeder with ports and the holes at the bottom. The problem is that they compact the feed and clog the holes and can't get food. I gave up, and now just have the top off, which is absurd. I think i want to try the 3" pvc pipe with the j at the bottom. Am I going to get the same...

    The heating plates? Its supposed to get to below zero in the next couple of weeks. I know I've read they don't really *need* them and we don't keep them on always but they make me feel better in the super cold days/ nights.

    Before we did any building, including the piers, we put in an insane over engineered water drainage system, like 4" drain tile. It is dry as a bone in there quickly even with monsoon rain we got this summer. It's snowed, melted, rained some more (right now) and there is no moisture on the ground...
