We just got Pyncheons this year. I really like these guys - friendly, inquisitive, and pretty to boot. I have five now, two mille fleur and three porcelain. I would like to get some more, and would like an outcross. Does anyone know of someone who sells pyncheon hatching eggs of decent quality?
This week we got Cackle's Weekly Special Bantam Pullet Deal as well as some pullet chicks and one cockerel of one of their sexed bantam breeds. The chicks came in good condition. One was a little unsteady on her feet on arrival, but she looks okay now.
I'm particularly pleased at the...
A year ago, we had a a very hard winter and early spring. The TSC stores in our area all had lots of losses with the bantam chicks. I purchased 6 banties and only 5 of them survived the first two days which was very sad. The Tractor Supply store offered to replace them, they never had bantams...
We tragically lost our splash OEG bantam roo a few weeks ago, and I would very much like to find a replacement. Would prefer a splash or blue roo (if blue, should be from black/blue/splash breeding).
I'm near Danbury CT and the Hudson Valley area of NY.
If you have a roo available or just...
We've bought TSC chicks for a couple of years. In our area, they get sex-linked pullets, one straight-run "breed of the week", straight-run mxed bantams and silkies.
The 4 straight run chickens we got turned out to be 3 hens and a roo. The sex-linked pullets have always been pullets

I've been to the tailgate several times. Some times there's a ton of vendors, sometimes not as many. There are more early in the day than in the afternoon.
From the buzz on the HV Chickens list it sounds like there will be a lot of vendors this time including people with some other types of...
I have my first pair of pigeons ever, and they just hatched at least one chick. I don't want to disturb them, so I can't see if the other egg also has hatched. The guy I bought the pair from told me that I could feed them on a 50/50 mix of chicken layer pellets and whole corn. That's what...
There's an active poultry email list for the Hudson Valley area and I know there are pigeon fanciers on that list. The list is on yahoogroups.com and is called HudsonValleyChickens. If you post on that list asking about pigeons, I know you will get some answers.
That group has 'tailgate'...
Today my OEG banties were allowed back into the big yard where they can now coop up in the heated henhouse. They seemed pretty pleased about the whole thing.
And my mille fleurs are slowly getting back to business. I got two eggs today. Maybe this is a trend! I saved a bunch of their molted...

I just checked the Meyer website. They have no bantam hatching eggs available.
I had tried getting some eggs from Meyer a while back and they said they had none for the breeds I wanted. When Herechicks said that s/he was getting some there, I thought maybe a few became...
Folks, there is good news and bad news.
Good news:
My mille fleurs have begun to lay again, though only an egg or two per day. And indeed, they did have a hidey hole they were laying in, but unfortunately, it was a wet spot and not a good place to store eggs. I've filled that in, so they can...
The current offer is a mixed lot of 6 pure eggs - choices are: 2 each of OEG bantam (pen of crele/splash), mottled cochin bantam, mille fleur d'Uccle, and/or standard Easter Eggers.
My largest pen is the mille fleurs, and during the summer I was getting 8 to 10 eggs a day from them, but...
Okay, Picasa failed me.
Now I'm going to try to post them on Tumblr. Tell me if this works:

The mille fleurs have gone on strike for better laying weather I think. It's been very rainy and cloudy and dank, and from almost 20 hens I got ZERO eggs today.
Here are some links to pictures of some of the birds producing the eggs I am offering:
Some of the OEG banties
Some of the mille fleur d'Uccles
The Mottled Cochins
I didn't seem to bre able to figure out how to post the images, but the links to the pictures should work.
For missing skin injuries or skin tears on any animal, I use EMT gel. It encourages skin growth by putting down a collagen matrix. I have used it successfully on scalped chicks, and also use it on dogs when they get skin lacerations that are too small to bother suturing. Actually, we have...
