Boo. 6 eggs, all boys.

I hatched some eggs from a neighbor's barnyard mix of hens August 23, so they're almost 4 months. Every one of them looks to be a roo, but this one...I don't know. The back end looks roo. The front end doesn't have the pointy neck feathers, though. No crowing yet, no behavior that would indicate...

OK, thanks. I think I'll just leave them alone (except to give them treats) right now. I'm sure the move was stressful, and they can just acclimate for a while.

Sorry, no pics yet. I'm a bit embarrassed about my coop; it came with the new house and it's...not pretty. Getting it looking good is low priority, after getting the electrical and pluming systems working in the house, which is also very not-pretty just now. The guineas, however, are great...

Update: We never got around to ordering keets, and just got too busy and...well, it didn't happen. But yesterday, there were five, one year old lavender guineas on CL just a few miles away from me for the low, low price of $35 for the whole flock so I snapped them up, and now we have guineas...

I don't know many details on the older guineas, the woman is kind of vague on her e-mails. We'll see. She says she needs to figure out which birds are paired up? Didn't get an answer on the number of birds available. I'll let you know if I get more info.

I've got the tarp over these guys now, but they're pretty wet and look kind of cold. Forecast says rain and lows in the high 40s the rest of the week. Are they OK with the tarp (ground is pretty wet right now) or should I bring them in somewhere? They're pretty much completely feathered, and...

Oh, and as far as predators, we do have foxes and a couple of times a year I'll see a hawk, but so far we haven't had any problems with free-ranging our chickens. There are almost as many chipmunks around here as ticks, so maybe all the baddies are just well-fed.

PeepsCA, you are just a wealth of information! Thank you for taking the time to post in all these threads (I've been reading this forum for a few hours.) In terms of brooding them, is it about the same drill as brooding chicks, or do they need to be warmer/cooler?
