    Small egg in yard???

I can't seem to find specific temperatures, however I did find this youtube video that goes through the process of hatching owlets. It looks like their incubator is set to 37.5 as well and it takes between 31 and 33 days. There is an Audubon Society in Seattle who may be able to help and they...

    Small egg in yard???

It looks like an owl's egg. Owl eggs are almost perfectly round like that. In Western Washington, we have quite a few species of owls most commonly are the Barred and Barn owls so it's likely one of those. There is a rarer chance that it could be from a Great Horned, Western Screech, or Spotted...

18 week old Rhode Island Red (maybe) cockerel?

Hi All, New chicken person here! While it is easy to tell what most of my chickens are, this one has me stumped. Can anyone tell me if this is actually a Rhode Island Red and if it is a cockerel or a pullet? He/she has no tail feathers really, so not sure if they are just a late bloomer, but...

WOW! That's an even bigger egg! The chicken in the background of your picture has a total "Nope" look!

Can you recommend some good sources where I can find that information? I have read up on some of the things, like prolapse, but I am a complete novice as far as most chicken related issues go. I am just thrilled that we raised all 18 from little baby chicks and none died! I would hate to lose...

Pullet's first egg is really large. Should I be concerned?

Thank you for all the replies! I have not checked if it is a double yolker, but it likely is. I was not expecting to see an egg that large from a first time lay! I will need to be vigilant and check which one laid it and make sure she doesn't keep laying the big ones. Not sure how to stop that...

Pullet's first egg is really large. Should I be concerned?

Hi Everyone! I am new to raising chickens. This is the first batch I have raised. We got them on April 5th of this year. They are 18 weeks old and just starting to lay. We have 4 Amberlink, 6 Rhode Island Red (possibly production red), 3 Plymouth Barred Rocks, 1 Black Australorp, and 4...
