I have a flock of 14 layer hens currently with no rooster. They are fed mainly Dumor Organic Layer Pellets. They do get some grazing time, dried black soldier fly larva, organic veggies from time to time, and I feed back their egg shells to them as well. I usually get my pullets from someone...
The feed store will take back rooster and trade for hens but I could always buy more pullets, from where I usually get my pullets this time, and stay with these guys since I don’t currently have any rooster in either coop. Hopefully they grow into sweet boys. I just wish I knew what breed they...
I’m now remembering why I don’t buy from this one specific feed store. 😂
The last time they sold me 2 pullets a few years ago I ended up with 2 rooster. I bought 4 pullets recently and I’m wondering now if I’m getting more roosters. 😂 They are about 6 weeks old. Here are my 4 little ones. 💕
Didn’t know that about the skin color! She was hatched with 3 others who were all lighter skinned on their face and necks but their legs were black. I believe those all turned out to be roosters.
She doesn’t have a name just yet.
I will be housing her with a silkie rooster I just don’t know...
Just showing off my adorable little hen. She is a product of my Silkie Rooster Johnny Cash and my Naked Neck Hen June Carter (who has since passed). I’m very surprised with how dark she came out! She has the Silkie toes and black skin, and a walnut type comb. She ended up with her mom’s smooth...
So I’ve been calling my Guinea Fowl “she” since she was a keet just because she has been raised with my layer hens. Lol
Now she, who is named Temperance (Tempy) is 21 weeks old and I have no idea if she is in fact a she or not. She is very quiet for a guinea I’m thinking because she is the only...
They are getting even more brown feathers. The color of those feathers remind me of my Easter eggers but they didn’t look like these as chicks. I don’t think they are Easter eggers though because they were in with all brown egg layer breeds.
This has been my guess too so far. The waiting game always gets me. I’m always so eager to know. lol I have a silkie chick that hatched with these and that one I know I’ll be waiting forever to find out. 😂
I know silkies are really a wait and see for hen or rooster BUT what would y'all's guesses be for this silkie hatched back in February. I have two Roos and I really don’t want to end up with a third but it’s so pretty! 😂
