    Predator proofing is one of my biggest concerns, as the last time I had small animals at that property (4H Rabbits) a raccoon opened the cage door and killed by best doe. :hit So anything I build is going to have to be Fort Knox tough.

    Thanks for the idea cavemenrich, I'll try to find some kind of structure that I can build around. I'm currently on a business trip so will have to start scrambling as soon as I get home. The horses are my biggest eaters, but, thankfully, are fatty pants and are on a strict hay and water diet.

    I realize that none of those words belong together, but I have a major emergency on my hands. I just resigned from my job, which means I will have to move out of the current housing in the next week with my two horses, German Shepard, 15 hens, 2 roosters, and about 15 chicks of assorted ages...

    Thanks Ihilani! He does have a high tail set. Is this something that can be corrected fairly easily, or should I look for a different rooster? Also what is your opinion on the hen's type? I know I've only got a 50% chance for blue, but is the type there? I'll try to get some better pictures...

    I'm in between San Antonio and Austin. I wouldn't recommend getting a rooster for a single hen, though. Even as easy-going and young as my boy is, when his hormones really kick in it's likely that he'll overbreed.
