Unfortunately, that's over a 2 hr drive from me. I'm sure someone closer will provide an eggcellent home.

I'd love to give them a good home. We have a big space for them to free range during the day and a secure coop for nighttime.

    New Zealand Rabbit problems

I can see the benefits of bringing forage to them. Besides being annoyed by the constant attention her other rabbits are doing great. We're reading a bunch of rabbit books to see what we can do better for them.

    New Zealand Rabbit problems

Thank you. The garlic was feed one time about a month ago on the advice of the person we bought her from. We should have not taken the advice blindly as I now see that it actually works as an immunosuppressive and some rabbits can have an anaphyacltic reaction just like onions. We always check...

    New Zealand Rabbit problems

They are in rabbit tractors giving them access to a new patch of forage each day, along with rabbit pellets and hay. She was told the garlic and grapefruit seed extract would strengthen their immune systems and work as a dewormer.

    New Zealand Rabbit problems

My daughter's New Zealand Rabbit had a sudden miscarriage 2 days ago. She is about 8 months old and did not begin making a nest. We didn't see any problems with the mom yesterday and today we found her seizing. She stopped briefly and then a 2nd one followed. She died during that one. It is a...

    Will they come back?

Thank you for your encouragement. We caught them! . We successfully lured them into a very large box many times, but every time we'd start to shut it they'd move faster then we could. Then one morning my son was milking the goats and they followed him into the milking shed. He shut the door...

Not sure I like to eat my chickens???

We ate our first old rooster cooked on low overnight with all the additions suggested. I know I should have waited longer after butchering, but we ran out of room. Good flavor, but a bit tough and chewy. Not surprising since it did not rest before cooking. Our friend told us that his mother used...

    Will they come back?

Great news about the imprinting. I was thinking it would take longer because they are older and a couple are flight risk. centrarchid When they first escaped we tried to walk slowly up to them. We didn't get within 15 feet before they flew to the top of our tree and then to another yard...

    Will they come back?

I doubt they regard the coop as their home. It's only been 3 days I'll still put out feed and water near the other chickens and pray they stick around for their buddies. I've told our kids not to chase them.

    Will they come back?

We got beautiful hens the other day knowing a few fly. Tonight my daughter opened the coop door a little too far and 2 flew into nearby trees. She is so sad and I would love to get them back. What are the odds they will continue to fly further away? Or is there hope they will return to our yard...

Not sure I like to eat my chickens???

Tomorrow, I'm butchering old roosters. I've only done very young ones before. It usually takes me days to a week before I can bring myself to eat the chickens we've butchered. Luckily it has the benefit of a more tender bird. This time, I am wary about them being extra tough or gamy. I was...
