We've got a barred rock hen (Black Chick) (just over a year old) who is the clear boss chicken in the flock (no roos). On two occasions in the last month, we've incorporated mature birds into our existing flock. Each time, Black Chick has crowed. I can only assume she is establishing herself...
Any thoughts? I know baby chicks are susceptible to disease, and may not be for this world when it all comes down to it, but one of our three day old Silkies is barely able to move.
Anyone have any suggestions that may give our little lady a boost?
Thanks!
Hi all!
My family of five (three young daughters) just got into backyard chicken raising last August. We've been referring to BYC ever since! Thank you for all of the resources you offer, and we look forward to interacting with you for many chickens to come!
