Hello, just wondering what others think about the gender of my hens two new chicks? They are just under two weeks old. I think I have one of each. What do you think?
I had a lot of trouble with my RIR/BR roosters. One was insanely aggressive, and they seem to grow massive. Pretty strong too! Sorry about your loss. Hope it's all working out.

To be perfectly honest I wouldn't be surprised if it was something to do with that. I have thought a million and one things. It doesn't really help when they go radio silent after you buy it now. But they did "confirm" before hand that they were pure breed parents. And after playing stupid...
Thank you, that's good to know, she is definitely doing the same as all the others, in fact for her smaller size, she sure knows how to dominate the feed bowl :) she doesn't seem like a runt as such. She just seems different. Can the runt have a dominate personality over the others?

Hi there,
I recently hatched my first batch of eggs. I ordered them off Ebay. They are of Black sex link breeding, A RIR father and barred rock mothers. Ive ended up with 5 beautiful, strong little hens. So lucky I know!!

Thank you both, I had wondered whether he could smell or hear something but don't know if I'm over-estimating his senses. Its funny you should both mention him picking up on my emotions. I hadn't really been nervous or anything because I wasn't even sure if any were viable and went straight to...
Hi there, I'm relatively new to the chicken keeping world. I'm currently incubating my very own batch of backyard chooks. I have done it before. But not for quite a few years.
To get to the point, what's different this time is I have a dog. The incubator is in a dog proof place. It's day six...
