    Feeling Very Guilty...Need Advice

I hope you are all adjusting to the newness of this. Do keep in mind with a rescue dog they need a time to decompress from having been in the shelter and become acclimated to their new family + surroundings. While I'm by no means a dog trainer, I did train my dog who is an American Pit Bull...

Necropsy Photos. Very graphic. If you're squeamish, don't look.

Thank you for posting this and thank you to the reply with the additional photos and stages. As I searched for "fused intestines" today I found this thread (almost 6 years later) and it has helped me understand what I was looking as I cried my way through the necropsy of my favorite girl. When I...

Gender for Appenzeller Spitzhauben 6 week old

    Pommegranates and chickens...

I have several pomegranate trees in my yard & when the squirrels accidentally drop their fare my girls devour the pomis. No ill effects that I can see - and they are picky too. MUST be super ripe or they will snub them.

    Birds eating dogs poop?!

Quote: Yea... I'll have to wrap my head around that one. I mean, I eat bacon & we all know what pigs eat... It's just really odd for me to be discovering/re-discovering chicken behaviors as an adult. These are my first chickens in over 20 years. There's much I didn't see (or maybe it's a...

    Birds eating dogs poop?!

Oh lovely. I had the same question. While my dog is certainly interested in chicken poo, my girls (especially Pee-Nut) look at my dog like a vending machine with legs. As soon as Kiah squats Pee-Nut (how she got her name) goes to get her "treat". Kiah (my dog) freaked out a bit the first few...

    Hello from Los Angeles

Hi all, I'm proud to say that I finally have 4 great reasons to join the forum. Speck (AKA Trouble), Caper (AKA Scandalous), Pepper (Pee-nut) & Olive Oil (Tank) ok, so none of the names I started out with stuck.. I grew up with chickens but this is the first time I have them as an adult. When I...
