Prior to yesterday every hatchery i looked at that had them said they were out of season for ancona ducklings. Thankfully I have a boyfrind who is great at searching the internet and found a small farm near me thats selling them at four weeks old. So, hopefully I'll have some friends for my last...
One literally died in my hand. I saw it just stop moving and my heart just dropped. Ive been wanting and ancona duck for ages. They have no breeders near me that are a reasonable distance to bring a live one home in a car withour some difficulties. And really thank you. Im glad that i was able...
Okay i lost two. When i opened one he still had the yolk sac attached so ive decided to not touch the last one and just let him come out when he sees fit. Thank you so much for your help
Lost one unfortunately. Other two seem to be doing fine. We are gradually working on getting them out of the shell. There is one vein on each that is making hatching them really difficult. Im afraid to cut it and they just give out on me.
Im sorry about your chickens, a hawk got two of my chickens last week. Im really afraid of the membrane there are a lot of veins still present. And not the spiney veins, the big thick veins. Should that be a concern? Also i wouldnt think the yolk is clear but thats what is in one of them for...
I have removed the membrane away from the beak and im sad to say I think I have lost one of them. One of them also seems to have a lot of jelly type liquid thats preventing me from hatching them anymore because im not sure what it is. The veins also seem to not be receding.
I've gotten all of their beaks out. One looks to be breathing normally. One looks like it's weak and nother i can only get to breathe or move if I rub on the belly. I would try and take them out but the viens are still very prominent in the two. What should I do?
I initially couldnt really see any veins until i wet the membrane i tried to avoid the veins as much as possible. I made one cut into the first one and it bled a little. The second one didnt bleed at all and the third one im gradually working on. As i was working on them they were trying to make...
It looks like the membrane is partially dried. I have the humidity in my incubator at 70% getting no lower than 65% in their current state. I looked up on here how to deal with it so i wrapped them in warm paper towels to try and help them some and put them righr back into the incubator.
I'm thinking that two of them have internally pipped now. But when I tap on the shell I don't hear peeping. I've read on several of these threads that they'll do that. I can see them moving around in the shell and now two of them in the air pocket. But, I'm not sure if they're stuck in the...
