Allore79, that's what I was thinking after looking at the breeds cackle has. Austra whites are about the only ones I found that were white with slate legs.
Drumstick Diva, I was excited to get the turkey poult in my box. Unless it turns out to be a terror, I plan to order a few more poults next...
Will do. My surprise box came with 1 duck, 1 turkey and 49 chicks. I only lost 3 chicks so I'll have plenty to figure out over the next few months. I'll definitely ask you about the polish in a few more weeks. I have 7 of those. (3 buff, 2 gold laced, 1 splash, and 1 white crested black)
Thanks for the replies. I've got one I couldn't get a clear pic of. It's colored just like my Columbian Wyandotte but with a single comb. I'm guessing it will be a Delaware? Summerb123, is it the thickness of his legs or something else you noticed?
My cackle hatchery surprise box babies are a month old now. I've identified most of the breeds but still have a few I'm unsure of.
speckled sussex?
looks just like my white leghorns but with blue legs
white giant?
lakenvelder or hamburg maybe
brown leghorn?
and just in case any turkey...
All of these are clean legged. I have one bantam colored like #5 that has feathered legs I'm assuming is a cochin. #6's legs aren't very dark. #8 is a bantam I believe. I have all sorts of solid yellow chicks. I'll be waiting until more adult feathering comes in on those. My polish were easy to...
I just got the surprise box from cackle hatchery. I got 51 chicks, a duckling and a turkey poult. I won't post all the chicks but I'd love opinions on some of them. The numbers and my guesses are below the pics. Thanks in advance
#1 I have several like this. Some with much more of the gray
#2...

I'd say the adoption was a success. And I just thought she was protective of her eggs... I got pecked several times just reaching in to move the food bowl. Lol.
I almost forgot to post a pic of the 3 incubator chicks. If all is still going smoothly when I check on them tomorrow I'll get a pic of the whole family.
My daughter and our broody finished tied. Both were given 6 eggs and hatched 3. We had one late quitter in our batch (probably day 19 or so). I candled it when I got the three out and there was no movement and an obvious blood ring. An eggtopsy revealed a dead fully developed chick but a full...
