I should add that the incubator has been running at a wet bulb of 83-84 which is about 50% humidity and I was planning on increasing that to wet bulb 89 or around 68% humidity starting tomorrow after lowering temp to around 98.5.
I just finished my day 18 candling and have 15 eggs fully developed. These were shipped eggs. I ordered 18 eggs from two different breeders, received 23, and 15 made it to lockdown. I'm pleased with that result. I was hoping for ten.
The air cells for the Ameraucanas were much smaller and...
How devastating. I'm so sorry. I live in a rural area in Southern California with foxes, bobcats, and coyotes as regular visitors and was always told they hunt at night. I lost my first hen at 2 in the afternoon because I was stupid and thought I could free range them with supervision. I was...
My wet bulb in the low 80's means the humidity is in the 40's on the high end so I'm right there with you. The hatch 101 article is awesome and I continue to re-read it. I have been marking the air cells and I'll know tomorrow night if I need to adjust for the last week. I agree that the...
My first ever incubation was last month. I'll just say that it was a good learning experience. Got shipped eggs and 4 out of 14 developed. Two hatched, I had to assist the third and was successful but couldn't get it to drink and syringe helped but it died the following day. The fourth...
I just discovered my ameraucana hen is a silver. Even though she was purchased as a purebred she looked like a welsummer to me and lays beautiful green eggs so I thought she must be an EE. Thanks to you guys I know better. I have wanted to breed her because she is amazing. Rocking hot body...
It worked! I heard a chirp! Ack! What do I do? What do I do? Somebody boil some water! Towels, I need towels!
The first one pipped today, day 20, at around noon. The humidity is up to wet bulb 91 degrees and I know I won't be getting any sleep tonight.

I'm new to this forum and thought I would say hi. I have three older hens, two Australorps and one Ameraucana. I'm in Jamul and hope to breed Ameraucanas, Welsummers and possibly Swedish flower hens and cream legbars eventually. I have four blue Ameraucana eggs due to hatch tomorrow, my very...
I currently have three, seven year old hens, two black australorp and one Ameraucana. The Ameraucana was the only survivor of 15 chicks sent through the mail--my first time (AND LAST TIME) ordering chicks through the mail. She had zero shipping stress despite all the others dying--strong...
