I'm so excited to find a few more chicken lovers in Whittier! Let's use this spot to brainstorm how we can work on getting the ordinance changed. goldenpoppy had a great idea of possibly setting up a booth at the Wednesday street fair to gain interest/support. Any other ideas?
Best of luck to you!!

I'm in Whittier as well, and on the search for fellow Whittier chicken lovers! I'm interested in working together to get the ordinance changed. AS you know, the permit is PRICEY!! I pm'd you; I hope you don't mind I'd love to work together!

It is a lot of money. ugh. I may try to get a consultation with an attorney, just so I know for sure. However, when I asked about them, I specifically asked about a few hens for our yard.
Are there any Whittier friends in here? I'd love to hook up with you and find out how you navigated the process of getting your conditional use license and see if anyone might be up to joining me in a quest to change the city ordinance!

It's not the coop that's cosing that much, it's the C.U.P. (conditional use permit). I was floored when they told me the cost! I guess they want to really deter a person!
Thank you so much for the encouragement. It helps a lot!
Alright, I think what we're going to do is pursue the permit for now, but also look into changing the ordinance. I'm not really sure how I would go about finding out if anyone else in my city has chickens, but I suppose I'll start with...
