Thanks for this article. She is a young hen and has 5 "sisters" All are doing just fine on the diet which they have been on for a year. I guess I'll have to separate her and monitor. I don't think she is pecking at it. The "spot" is soft and has a little hole in it.

Layer feed is Purina Layena High Protein; the flock eats some cluck&co. organic scratch and some cracked corn. They are all free range chickens on the property. Treats are mealworms and maybe some watermelon when it is hot.
