    Chickens & Human Health Issues

Well, I’m glad there’s not some horrible health risk that I didn’t know about. I can’t imagine keeping a whole bunch of chickens with any major health issue - I have to talk myself into taking care of my small flock when I’ve got a bad cold!

    Chickens & Human Health Issues

That’s what has me scratching my head - apparently the doc told her she had to rehome them immediately.

    Chickens & Human Health Issues

Hey, All - a friend of mine told me that his aunt is having to rehome her 140 chickens because she has been diagnosed with an enlarged heart due to chicken and duck keeping. I have never heard of anything like that - wondering if it’s just a case of misinformation and I can’t ask her directly...

Bantam Chicks From the "Assorted" Bin. Guesses?

I thought so too! I lost my beloved bantam Cochin on Saturday and found myself standing in front of the bin, red rimmed eyes, later discovering my comfy, sad pants were on inside out. I can’t even imagine what the salesperson thought of me. I showed him pictures of my Cochin. I saw that the...

She's beautiful! I'd be thrilled if she were a Partridge Cochin, too.

Bantam Chicks From the "Assorted" Bin. Guesses?

These chicks are either 4 or 5 weeks old, have feathered feet and according to the salesperson at the feed store. They are from Murray McMurray and the sign said, "assorted purebred bantam." Any guesses? I am leaning toward Golden Laced Cochins...

    Heartbroken, need advice

It's so awful when something just happens in an instant - I've just been replaying it all over and over wishing I could go back and change those seconds. Such a wonderful, trusting bird. She is greatly missed. Thank you all sincerely for your words and advice.

    Heartbroken, need advice

Thank you, I think she was ok - she was so little that I don't think she 'got it'. The chicks are roosting with the others now. Thankfully it seems that they will all be just fine.

I’m angry at myself. I should have put a lock on the gate that separates their area to range and the rest of my yard. Thank you for easing my worries about the chicks - they have lots of places to hide.
