No worries :) I would feel horrible if he had something and got your birds sick. Say, would ya mind messaging me the info on that rehab place? :D Thanks much! Welcome to our newbies!

    Utah!

He's kind of scrawny and pretty lonely. I know he went through a period of depression and would hardly eat anything, and I had to bring him inside during winter and give him a bath and food and put some neosporin on a big chest wound he had. Dirty raccoons, grrr! I don't know how clean he is...

Do you keep ducks, by chance? Would you like a Cayuga drake? I have one that is the only survivor of a dog attack followed by a raccoon attack and I'm anxious to get him to someone with other ducks, but if you already have a drake it might not be a good idea :( Just thought I'd check, though.

Hi again! It's all good, I replied to your PM before I saw your post here, lol. I will definitely keep that in mind about the guineas! Thank you :) It's just a matter of getting down to Delta before I get them. I'm pretty sure my neighbors in Tooele would be unhappy with me if I had a flock of...

    Utah!

Well, we'll have plenty of space for them to run around, and only one neighbor. I'd want the guineas for pest control, but I do understand that the hawks out there figure out they are tasty every few months, so they'd probably be in a run most of the time :/ I've also considered peafowl and...

    Utah!

That's what we like, too :) Lots of space, and we could do crops and a farm. I like pheasants because of their plumage and I could see myself raising them as meat birds. The one problem I have run across is that they need lots of space, or I hear they turn cannibalistic :/ But we do have space...

Ok, just curious. We will have a few runs for animals once we get to Delta, so I'm toying with the idea of getting a couple of different breeds. Fayoumis sounded interesting. There are others I would look at, too, like Vorwerks or Lakenvelders, but that's all a ways down the road. I'm still...

Nice! It will be a few more weeks here before we can put our tomatoes in. Right now it's just the stuff that doesn't mind the cold.

    Hens laying?

My BR's and bronze hen laid in the spring, so I would think you'll start seeing eggs within the next few weeks or so. Keep an eye on them, if they free range. Mine hid all their nests. Good luck!

And of course I already have all mine :P FYI, the Tooele one now has turkeys, for anyone looking. They're Broad Breasted Whites. We got two and they have so much personality already :) They had ducklings the day before yesterday, too. Anyone started their garden yet? We have peas and beets in...

    Utah!

Welcome, Victoria! Glad to hear you are getting back into the wonderful world of chickens :) I am clear out in Tooele land, but what we did for our first coop was to just get a large wooden box and convert it into a small coop, when we had a few birds. Just put a roof on, cut vent holes and a...

    Utah!

Yay! Good girl :) I remember how much personality she showed when I came to visit. I love how spoiled your girls are. Such happy girls. Well, we did it. We got three little BR babies today from Cal Ranch and I cleaned out the big coop for the preteens (which DH raccoon proofed for me) And of...

Welcome, jjengebretson! Congrats on the new chicks :) Watch out for that chicken math. It'll get ya ;) Okay you guys, stop. You're making me want to pull out my incubator and redeem myself, and that cannot be going on. All we're going to have for a while are a few egg layers that DH wanted and...
