I got them from Snoozin' Goose Ranch outside of Bloomington, depending on where you are, we will be hatching them ourselves soon, but I'm not prepared to do any shipping. We are located south west of Bedford outside of Williams, IN.
I think the key to profit is reducing costs, but being in a good area where people appreciate fresh cage free eggs is important. I don't have chickens, we have ducks and quail that we sell eggs for $3 a dozen and $4 and $5 for hatching eggs, and we can't produce enough for all the hatching eggs...
Well it seems to have worked, after about 4 days I couldn't stand to see them all crammed into the smaller cages and put them all back in the aviary. No fighting and they intermingled immediately. A month old quails with year and half old quails, plenty of males in the mix as well. I think...
I had read in the past that if you introduce them all into a new space then it will work, otherwise they are territorial about their enclosure. I had quails in separate cages last summer that I combined together into an aviary and didn't have a problem. I now have a new batch of quail we...

I have now also decided to use sand as my brooder bedding. I cleaned out the non-slip shelf liner with paper towels underneath last night, thinking okay that's good for a couple days, but when I got up today they had made a mess with their water and food basically caking the floor of the...
You could heat up stones( granite or basalt) in your oven and set the water on top of these or place them in the bottom of the water. If you get sunlight at all where they have access to you could build a little greenhouse to cover the water with maybe a flap door for the chickens to go in and out.
I just hatched my first brood and our home made incubators temperature was unreliable(we used a water heater thermostat) and they were to warm apparently because they began to hatch 2 days early. I helped a few out of their shell because I feel if they die later from issues at least they had a...
When I first bought my quail I built wire bottom cages for them because those were the examples I saw online, and after the first year I thought I don't want to continue raising them because they cost to much to raise for eggs, wasting feed through the wire bottom, had one incident of club foot(...
