Dpends on the breed of Roo you want to get.
ive read, heard AND expereinced the BO Roo are the most non confrontational. My gu is 2 and has always been low Roo on the totem.
the best rooswe had for a flock protector were my Jersey Giant and my little Japanese Bantum.
my ducks and chickens dont seem to care to much about each other with the exception of my Pekin, they think they are cochins..... can't wait to see picx of your crosses
we did and yes, it was purely accidentally but worked. ..
we actually have a khaki /malllard, khakie female mallard male
khaki/khaki
and mallard/cayuga cross: khaki male and cayuga female
We use the "orange bucket" from home depot, drilled out holes along the bottom and attached a deep CLEAN oil pan catch to it. it easily holds 1/2 bag (25 lb) of feed and 2 of them feed my flock for 2 days. we take the food out during the day time for all of them to forage, so they only have it...
im not sure as far as what may be poisonous to them but you can alway contact a local adobon society or even a feed store to see what might be poisonous in your area. im sure each geographical zone has different "bad bugs". good luck and ducky baby is ADORABLE
DO NOT RELEASE THEM! could cause MAJOR havoc plus they may find there way back who knows. have you call your local SPCA or animal shelters to see if they can be surrendered. alot of shelter up her in NE rescue and rehome roosters... have you tried to aproach them slowly on your terms?
