Definitely wings. I'm still following along but havent had much time to take pictures and participate. Down to 22 pullets I think I'll be keeping at least until eggs start coming in. Narrowed down to 10 cockerels a few weeks ago and looks like it's time to cut a few more. Getting a lot of high...
Trying to apply what I'm learning to my birds:
Would this be an example, (best of the pictures I have on my phone at the moment) ignoring the other faults, of full well rounded? No splits, nice curve
It looks like she juuuust passes (or maybe fails?. If her head was held straighter its be...
Taking a stab:
4th: Is is because of the split breast? Does it come from the feathers or the actual breast?
3rd: That hen has a straight angle on the bottom of her breast with maybe even a little dip inwards like there's not enough meat?
2nd the breast is rounded but still a little angle...
Its definitely not a girl but it was sold as a pullet and looked like a darker pullet to me until it started growing these wild colors a few weeks ago.
There were other hens in that breeding group but some came from the hens pictured all came from the roosters pictured. Here are a few of the other hens.
I'm thinking that for next year I'll keep just a few of these hens (there are 11 running around) and pair with one of the lower tailed boys...
Here are some of the oldest growouts (11-13 weeks with pictures over the last 2 weeks)
Better tail angles and longer backs that slope more appropriately (I think)
So here's a good idea of my foundation flock. About a dozen hens 2 roosters. Definitely some faults in this group but I didnt know what I was really looking for. They were colored better than my original trio and had prettier crests. Oops.
I've had legbars for about a year now. (Had bym as a child got back into chickens in 16 with Easter Eggers but i hate waiting to know the sex) Started with a trio of legbars. Bought a few hens from a guy getting out of legbars this spring. My first growouts are about 11-13 weeks old now. I'm...
Up to 13 legbars and a dozen olives!
Next batch on lockdown when I get around to it today. Only two batches after that and I'm done for the season unless another hen goes broody.
