My birds are such mutts that when I use the calculator and select the presets based on appearance (i.e. mille fleur, splash, etc), I end up with completely random birds that I shouldn't end up with 😂
I have this splash boy with red leakage. Other males from the same cross are splash with buff leakage on necks and chest. This bantam hen is from a mille fleur mutt / cochin cross. Wondering what I might expect if I pair these 2 up?
I'm on here looking for photos and saw your comment. From the little I know, the black and gold bird could not have resulted from a brahma x BR. The bird in your photo looks fibro. She has dark/slate legs. It's impossible for yellow-legged, white/yellow skinned parents to produce a bird like that.
I'm so sorry I didn't see this! How did your situation turn out? We had a bunch of bantams (including the rooster!) sitting on a clutch of eggs this year. He was new and the hens were not very receptive to him yet. Unfortunately, only 1 of the eggs was fertilized. The chick hatched and I...
I had a silver Braekel years ago. He got ornery and my kids were small so I rehomed him to a farm that took roosters. I hatched a chick out of him and her name is Ducky. She's amazing. Shexa tough (survived 2 predator attacks) and a good forager. She never goes broody. She's in her 6th year and...
I agree that we need to see pics of the birds standing naturally from the side. An updated head shot that shows comb & wattles is helpful too. I can't really see this bird well but my initial take is that it's a roo based on color of comb & wattles. However, it's fairly feathered out and has a...
Where did you get him from? I had to rehome my Silver Braekel years ago because my kids were young and he was getting aggressive with them. He was a gorgeous bird though his tail looked different than yours. I'd guess yours was a campine by the hen feathering. Regardless, my Braekel had a...
Mama would be a white leghorn so single combs are definitely possible. Purchased 4 today and 3 have single combs. They were in a bin with black sexlinks. There were white chicks as well but they looked just like the PBBs. No other white breeds were present in any bin. My thoughts are that...
I know this is an old thread but I came across the article that addressed this and figured there must be a post in this forum where I could share it for others to reference. It's pretty old and since I haven't heard anything regarding hatcheries using temp to sway their hatches, perhaps it's...
