The egg will still break if it hits a flat board/ramp. At least with the ladder it’s a 50/50 chance it will drop between the rungs. 😆 I think I will try moving the ladder into a different position so that the egg will land on the softer floor until I get the new coop.
I have a hen that has also become a bomber. She drops her egg from the roost and it hits the ladder that’s inside the coop. (Not my design, coop and chickens were given to me...looking for a new coop). I think I know which roost she is dropping from, but I’m worried that putting something...
I did wash it off yes. We also just recently had a big serge in weather from cold to hot then back to cold and hot again. Possibly causing some distress. Thank you for the video. Very informative!
Can anyone tell me anything about this egg? There was blood on it and the chicken that laid it seemed to be a little distressed and laid it in the floor of the coop instead of the bed.
There isn’t a floor, we’ve been told to put down grass clippings and bedding and to make sure to tend to it regularly, which I do. There is a cement block inside that their feeders/water sit on and a ladder that goes up to the two level stoops. The way the covers are, it doesn’t seem to leak...
The roof isn’t sealed tight, but covered to keep rain out, the bottom is open lattice the whole way around and we have a pretty steady breeze all the time in our yard that blows throughout the coop but not too much so it is too cold on their stoops.
I’m not certain with how old they are. I adopted them a couple of months ago from my neighbor. I don’t think they are a year old though, because she raised them from chicks I think in the spring. I will get some pics to post later.
