We lost one on the first night - a barred rock peep. Our 11 others are doing fine; almost fully feathered, and just moved them to the coop today! No more 100 degree weather for a while means they won't bake :)
spatulagirl - Did you get chicks, or adults?
This is going to be one heck of an event! I have to admit - I'm a little nervous. We're hoping to get some chicks, but there are going to be so many people!
Where's the nervous smiley when you need one?
Hi there!
What are you looking to get for the pullets? Just curious... And I need to google where you are in the state because I'm in the far east
Edit - Wow! That'd be a long drive for the chicks! (I'm near Martinsburg)
Well, after some serious number crunching, it looks like I won't be able to get chickens this year. My coop is going to be a bit too expensive to build in a month when the little peeps get to the size where they'll need it. I'll keep a fund going for a coop though, and hopefully next...
No RIR chicks or barred rocks?
I know I'm planning on getting some Easter Eggers. I was thinking about getting...
4 RIR
4 barred rocks
4 Araucana
If I'm looking for non-white egg layers that can be dual purpose, any suggestions on what other chicks to get if no one's bring RIR or BR...
I spent five hours outside today... Getting wood ready for next winter! Hopefully it isn't as cold as this past winter has been.
I think the next rainy day that comes this way, I'm going to draw up some coop plans. Should I make a 6x8 coop a sled, or put wheels on it?
