    Structurally, the coop will withstand snow load just fine. We'll also remove snow when necessary, as the roof is only 4' 10" at the back. The roof is supported by 2x4s, on 24" center. The roof will be covered in composite roofing. During mild winters, we might get 12"-24" of snow, and have 3...

    Do people spread straw throughout the whole interior of the coop, with more straw in the nesting boxes? Or, is the interior floor kept bare, with straw only in the nesting boxes? I had planned on a thin layer, throughout the entire interior, to "catch" poop.

    I mentioned our location, but I buried it in the post, sorry. We are in Spokane, WA. Hot in the summer and definitely cold in the winter. We spend a lot of the winter at below freezing temperatures and usually have a few sub zero weeks.
