That's what I m thinking. Possibly a genetic problem. I just hatched more Tennessee Reds and they are healthy and very active.I hatched some Scaled quail last night that were next to the ones with problems, and I had trouble catching them for the brooder. They are the wildest little quail I have...
Thanks for replying. No, they are all fluffed up and look normal otherwise. I haven't seen this before. They are all from the same breeder, so didn't know if that was a clue. I hatched other quail at the same time that show no problems.
I just hatched a group of white bobwhites and some Butler bobwhites. I had a good percentage hatch, but a number of them can't open their eyes. I have used a Qtip and warm water and tried to pry their eyelids apart. I can see small eyeballs when I pull the eyelids apart, but they close again...
I was wondering if that was who you were talking about. I live just 40 miles from him, and was going to check them out. When I contacted him, he said he had a 3 week waiting list, and you had to prepay to get on the list. I wanted to look at the birds first, but he seemed not too interested in...
When I checked my incubator earlier this evening, my Butler eggs were hatching. I am really interested to see if they grow as large as everyone says. Hope they don't eat anymore than my A&Ms. They are pigs.
Some of my roosters just started crowing yesterday. They are about 6 weeks old. I was penning my horses this afternoon, and I could hear them crowing from 500yards away! I have used a laser rangefinder to check the distance from my yard to a brushline across the creek behind my house when...
Last year as we were working on a fence, we saw a skunk approaching, We kept thinking it would leave when it saw us. When it did see us, it came straight to us. When it was within 3 feet, I whacked it with a fence post. A vet sent it off, and it was confirmed to be rabid. I have killed more...
Mine hatched July 6th. Still nothing. No crowing, no eggs. They do growl at me when I feed them now. I was wondering if the heat would affect the laying age, but if your in Texas too, it didn't apparentely bother yours.
Not that it matters now that you changed it, but you said the hole was toward the slight upslope. If it is enough unlevel, this would allow water to run out, The hole needs to be on the low side, so the water level goes over the hole and stops the water flowing out.
Just 243 days to go!! I have seen pictures of his birds, and they look really large. The pictures of the dressed birds look really light colored. I am anxious to see them. I am leaving a PM for address to send payment. Thank you, Ricky Crawford
Congratulations on the pregnancy! I see you have started a countdown. You think watching an incubator for a couple of weeks takes forever. I would like to try your eggs if they are still available. I have quite a few birds, and would like some different bloodlines . It seems you have done a lot...
This thread has lasted longer than I thought it would, but I sense it going downhill fast. This is just too controversial of a subject to go very long. So if you will excuse me, I will get my light and my rifle and go outside on coon patrol. It's about time for the little devils to start looking...
Several yers ago here in Texas, a gunman walked into a cafeteria and started shooting patrons. A lady that later became one of our senators, reached for her purse where she normally carried her concealed weapon, only to remember she had removed it in her car. The sign on the door said no weapons...
The LG turner that I measured for you yesterday has a snap in plug that keeps you from setting eggs in the hole next to the motor. The motor runs continuosly, so does produce some heat. As you are adjusting your temps, you have the turner running so you allow for this added heat. I haven't...
