    Any Home Bakers Here?

I make most of our large family food from scratch, we do buy bagels and some sourdough for hubby's lunches (I despise the long sourdough process) but most everything else i make from scratch. Sweet rolls, halfwheat milk bread and simple French bread are about a weekly thing. Biscuits or...

Or cookies, like butter or sugar cookies would also be good for both.

    Any Home Bakers Here?

Hmm, 🤔 I think the answer would very widely in the type of funeral and who is throwing it. If its a more traditional solemn thing then maybe something like cheese stuffed buns, the kind where you bake a bunch of soft buns with either straight cheese or a cheesy mix in the center. Or possibly...

Growing Blueberries , South Carolina Midlands

We just got some this year, idk if I will be successful or not yet. I have been making specialty compost for them largely consisting of coffee grounds, urine and orange peel, they seem to like it. I also have been watering them with a bit of overbrewed kombucha (aka tea vinegar) mixed into their...

    Experimental Garden. Will Anything Grow?

If you dig a hole, even just 6inches and plop some random organic matter in, partially bury it and wait a month, tomatoes will grow. They ADORE only partially decomped stuff, and as long as they can get a start they have no trouble in clay and rocks, and love the wet. Mustard seed will also grow...

    Is this a hen??!

They might very well be the opposite, or even mutigeneneration. The gentleman keeps a flock with 1 barred male and 1 white, usually, and then what ever hens, mostly barred, bu5 a mix of others, but he mixes it up and adds from other farmers every year to keep new blood.

    Is this a hen??!

Yes, they are mixed with a white roo. That's why I was so uncertain and didn't want to go by color.

Double white line for male, but since they are mixed i wasn't sure.

    Is this a hen??!

The lighter barred rocks (which i know is usually male) show feathers from different breeds like the iridescent black will be tucked in, and they had white in their ancestry, which I why I was hoping at least 1 was a hen, especially since I can never tell the difference on comb/wattle with...

    Is this a hen??!

The all white are pretty clearly female, as is the smaller all brown one. Most of the barred were given to us because he didn't want to have to butcher, and he thought they were all male, I think we got 2 females from that group so I guess we got the better of the deal, I think that gives us...

    Is this a hen??!

This one has pointy hacks, but confusing saddle and tiny tail, also a smaller more pale comb.
