I have a pair of silkie bantam roosters that need a new home where they won't bother neighbors with their crowing. They are semi-tame and put themselves up at night like good chickens. I'm not looking for a rehoming fee, I'm mostly just looking to get them somewhere they'll be safe. They are...
Right now I've only got four buttons in the brooder, but in a couple weeks I will have more. They're in a 10 gallon aquarium, I put a lower watt bulb and that seems to have worked reasonably well, but I will definitely check into a brooder plate to see what those are about. I imagine it's like a...
Is there a heat lamp out there that doesn't get 2nd degree burn hot? I'm trying to figure a brooder for my Buttons and the biggest obstacle for me is the heat source.
Do you have a small syringe? You could try feeding her a mix of water and sugar, or if you have it on hand Sav-A-Chick. I will send my happy thoughts to your little one.
I have to share, I'm a first time clutch mom and I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm working on a second heat tank for them so that can be moved away from my other eggs. Anyone have any tips on how to best help the babies?
Here is an album of them and momma's flock.
Eee! So cute!
I need to get some more females. They are so hard to find in my area that I don't want to get rid of any of them. But my poor girls are getting harassed.
Do you still have them? I know I am not local, but I could probably come and get them or fly in to get them. (I've taken them on a plane before, they did really well!)
I'm in NoVA, and no such luck. I just flew to Florida to get some females for my flock. Depending on where you live...there is an ad on Craigslist right now for some in Danville, VA. :\
Edit: Cyberquail's VA listings are all defunct.
I had to drive 260 miles to find mine, they're pretty rare in certain parts of the country I guess. Call around to your local "little" petstores and see if they have them. Otherwise, you'll probably have to wait until Spring before the online hatcheries have them again. :(
Thank you! I have split the primary aggressor off with a female and their seems to be peace at the moment in the main cage. I think the two small whites I have are males. They "whir" but I can't get a definitive answer as to whether or not a female may do it also.
Meanwhile, we had our first...
My fiance & I recently adopted 10 Buttons, we were told they were evenly split...male to female. But the ratio appears to be 7:3. Is it possible to segregate out 3 breeding pairs and have the rest of the males live together? We have our first egg in an incubator, I'm hoping for a girl. But we...
