When are chicks considered "Feathered"? Looking to remove lamp ASAP.

I agree. When they look more like chickens (just shorter) and less like chicks, out they go. They will keep each other warm. A lamp is up to you if it goes below 50 but as long as they have shelter from the wind or rain, they'll stay warm. I used to put pine litter in my grow-out pen shelter...

Hoping to turn a huge unused dog pen into chicken coop, maybe??

This pen is awesome. I wish I was a chicken! I use our old dog kennel for ducklings and goslings. Had trouble with a big black snake but hubby fixed that. No details but we did put hardware cloth around bottom to be sure. Old dog house with pine and hay. Reinstalled the shade tarp that came with...

    When to get baby chicks

    Mullberries and geese

I hit the wrong button!. All I know is that dogs shouldn't eat mulberries.Luckily my chickens eat them all up. Sometimes I think they catch them in midair!

    Gobble noises--hen? tom? both

I never heard that. Thanks for the information. But now that I think about it, the White Palm is just more masculine...and gobbles and displays. The bronze is just more feminine somehow...and never gobbles or displays. That is so cool!
