    Duckling waterer?

Last year I hatched goslings and made them a waterer out of a gallon jug. I drilled 1 1/2 inch holes approximately two inches above the bottom (2 inches from the bottom of the hole to the bottom of the jug) Saved from them splashing water out and let them put their beaks in as far as they...

    June 2021 Hatch - A - Long

Ended up with 15 chicks total 😁 Wasn't sure when I went to bed last night if the last 2 were going to make it. Extremely weak and not perking up, so I left them in the incubator. Still weren't really active when I got up this morning, put them in with the rest to encourage them to move around...

    June 2021 Hatch - A - Long

11 chicks so far 6 more to go (3 external pips, 3 I opened a little bit to check progress-still alive) 1 quiter. Overall, happy with the hatch. Wasn't sure if Peter Pan was being successful with any of the full sized girls. 11 of the chicks are half cochin bantam roo, half BO, LO, BSL.

    1st hatch

Give them time. (Keep repeating this to myself as I'm waiting on my own first hatch currently happening) Got my first 2 chicks late yesterday afternoon, 6 since then, another 6 in the process of hatching, and 5 that haven't external pipped yet. The waiting room is definitely experiencing a mild...

    Happy 1 month birthday!

We've made it to the one month mark. All healthy and active. Had one little girl with a turned leg/foot for several days but would never know it now ☺️ The kiddie pool was their present 💝

    June 2021 Hatch - A - Long

Sample egg from unknown mama. Small end is very light brown, air sac end is darker brown. Quarter for size reference Baby has feathered feet, 3 toes, bigger than the bantam but smaller than the lo cross. Possible Mama's - buff orpington or EE.

    June 2021 Hatch - A - Long

4 happy babies so far, 6 more external pips. First 2 pics are the buff orpington or black sex link / cochin bantam (my avatar) roo and LO / cochin bantam. Last 2 are - unsure of Mama / cochin bantam and full cochin bantam. 😍

    June 2021 Hatch - A - Long

Two hatched this afternoon😁, two more have external pips, 4 internal pips, the rest are still viable I think, just a little behind. 🤷 The two fully hatched are lavender orpington/cochin bantam and buff orpington/cochin bantam. Still fluffing up. Will post pictures tomorrow. 😃

    June 2021 Hatch - A - Long

Late to the party (as usual) just put my first set of chick eggs on lockdown. It's a mix of cochin bantam (6 or 7) and full sized (10-15). All have a cochin bantam roo father. So sad that none of the EE eggs look viable. Guess I'll have to set some more once this batch is done 🤷

Have to get this off my chest...

Turkeys were my gateway birds 🤣 You should definitely get a couple. They are so much fun (though I'm being won over by the goslings 😍)

    2021 Gosling Hatch-a-Long

Don't tell my husband about comparing it to a horse. He doesn't do horses 🤣. But seriously, he didn't want any animals so I'm happy to have what I do. 14 layers, 22 turkeys, 25 meat chickens and 8 geese.
