I have 4 bobs on wire floor cages with no foot problems so far. I did have some pecking issues and I was told that a lack of protein may be the issue.

I picked up some 2 hours from home. Aside from a smelly car the birds were fine.

I have three pens one with bobs two with cots all about 16" high. They have worked well for me no problems.

I have been feeding my birds turkey starter and they seem to be doing well. I was told the turkey starter is an acceptable feed for quail, it has 30% protien. A 50 lb bag costs $18 at my local feed store.

Placed an order for 50 of the JMF C line eggs. Wont be shipped until April though. I couldnt wait so i placed 8 of my locally bought quail's eggs in the incubator to practice with.

I built this one for under $50. Couldve saved a few bucks if i had used 2X2 instead of 2X4s.

Excellent thread!! I'm new to the quail biz and only have some local birds right now. I suspect i have too many males cause I only get a couple of eggs a day out of 20 birds. I plan on ordering some eggs from JMF in the near future.

Ohh..the feed i bought has Lysine, not less than 1.5% and Methionine, not less than 0.5% does this mean its mediacted?
