Whatever you use, I suggest getting something close to the color of the feathers so the other chickens don’t peck at it
I had a chicken that had her entire back scalped by a dog - from the base of her neck all the way down to her tail feathers. Completely skinned with muscle showing. I didn’t think she would make it. I kept it sprayed with blukote for a month and kept a hen apron on her.
She never did grow back...
I just had the same issue, except in my case, they were chasing her out of her nest so she was trying to sit on a new set of eggs every night. I ended up moving her to a dedicated area so she wouldn’t be bothered and she hatched out 2 on Tuesday
Thank you! Mom has them out and about today. She has them out of the coop and into the small run now, showing them how to peck at bugs. I put some of their starter feed and water out there too. I am wondering how she is going to get them up the ramp and back into the coop tonight.
