Have you tried adding a drop of UNFILTERED apple cider vinegar to it's water? You might get another chick to keep it company. Sorry for your loss, it's strange to other people but chickens are very special, I know how hard it is to lose one.
We discovered "Mother Water", It is a couple tbs of UNFILTERED Apple cider vinegar in a gallon of water, one week a month to stimulate health and reduce stress! It is an amazing thing that even works on my dog to stop her scratching and calm her during fire-works and storms :)
chickens love to scratch and turn dirt & leaves into compost! Dirt seems to be more steril as long as you add leaves and weeds and such for them to scratch & turn.
