Wow, I never never knew that. I was always told by breeders that black often hid dilute. I guess I should always do my research before trusting something. Thanks for clarifying :)
That's interesting, yours may be a silver (although it appears to look more blue). Most silvers are hatched all yellow with a few darker spots so that could be why yours is starting to change colors all of a sudden. And since you mention both parents to be black and white, it's possible that...
Wow this is exciting! I've been following this thread for a few weeks, so it'll be fun seeing what you hatch out! Especially the Barnevelders since I know Saskia, and have seen her gorgeous flock. I live only a few minutes away from her so I'm always tempted to just get "a few more chicks"...
So.... the power just went out. :barnie I draped a towel over and around the brooder to conserve heat, but I’m not sure how long it will work. Don’t have water unfortunately (electric well) so no hot water bottles.

Seeing that you're in NC (hey neighbor!), there's a place in Hillsborough, Dragonfly farms. I haven't gotten any birds from her but friends of mine are very happy with their Marans.

All but one have hatched so far. The last egg is the one who pipped on the wrong side and I've heard it will take longer to hatch, so I'm definitely waiting before deciding to assist (if necessary).
