I did this for a while and it helped. Then I bought a 2 pack of rectangular silicone ice molds (I think people use them for human “ice baths”. When full they weigh 8 lbs which I believe is one gallon. I drop one in their water each morning. Having the two pack lets me have a fresh one every morning.
I do recall those things being true, it just seems strange that it would be different from other one day before but anything is possible! And also strange that it happened 10 weeks after we added in the Olive Egger too.
Much darker. I don’t know if you can really tell in the picture, but the two at the top are dark. All the others are very pale blue/green, which is what they have always laid.
I’m sure this is a silly question, but I can’t figure it out. Four laying hens. All the eggs have been pale blue/green for the last 2 years. I introduced 5 chicks (3 Easter eggers and two Olive eggers) in March, who are now 10 weeks old. One (maybe two) have turned out to be roosters, oddly...
Thank you for the tips. We had 5 girls and they each had 1 linear foot per bird on the TOP bar and the same on the second bar. We got 4 more girls and figured that with a total of 10 linear feet the nine of them would work it out. They are 10 weeks now and they all usually squish together on the...
It’s possible, but when I watch her on the camera, she stays in that position for quite a while. She’s ten weeks. I guess she really is a hard sleeper! Her position looks just like the chick in your pic, lol!
This chick seems normal in every way, but sometimes I see her sleeping like this. Is it normal?
Also, the four big girls can’t “hunker down” to sleep because the new chicks kind of hog the roosting board, so they end up standing half the night. Are they getting any sleep?
Thanks!!
Yes, his name is now Oliver. I should also add that several hours after my first post, "Oliver" mounted one of the girls and then GRABBED HER COMB with HIS beak. I think it's more than safe to say that Oliver is a boy.
Our older girls are 3 years old.
This is Olivia. She is eight weeks old. I’m 90% sure she/he crowed this morning.
I’m just looking for opinions from those with more experience than me!!!
Is “she” a boy?!
Thanks!
