If a rooster laid an egg on top of the barn which way would it roll off ? However a cantankerous cock does not give birth. I am more concerned with the trauma a good egg laying hen might suffer. Any one have this happen to one of your hens ?
I had a pair of barred grays since they were chicks, $4.00 each. The cock grew to 11lbs and ther hen was at 9lbs before the neighbors dogs decided they were food for them. The hen layed really well but would not brood, maybe the hen was still a little too young. I guess I'll never know now.
The attached photo,in your response, of your Plymouth Barred Gray, appears to have a better chance ! Beautiful chicken, big chicken, very mellow and user friendly with kids and adults alike, good layers, and great for the table too !
A rare capture of my best brooding hen crowing like a rooster after her bath !
I hoped I could post the video here. Maybe I will post it in a different thread.
Quite true, quite true ! The natural and homemade repellents do require reapplication on a monthly to weekly basis depending on the particular recipe and weather conditions(rain, wind and temperature just to name a few). But the predator will get discouraged eventually and stop making your coop...
No not really, I speak chicken because I've observed their actions when they were communicating with each other and picked up on their phonetics. I talk to them like they are little humans(kids) and when I look at one of them and make a good or bad sound they know if they're doing something they...
Roosterbreaux here {^_^} !
You are so right, it won't kill anything but it certainly is unpleasant and very effective also(I have to give credit where credit is due) !!! I had used electricity before a time or 2 myself. {>0<}
Hello there, Roosterbreaux here !({^o^})!
While an electric defense will give you a good guarantee to discourage the foxy little critters I feel that it may be slightly on the unsafe side. An innocent bystander or passerby may get zapped inadvertently like, a pet, maybe 1 of your chicks or...
