    Black Copper Marans discussion thread

I strongly feel that when you combine my feather patterns and egg color and type as well as what my birds produce because of my selective breeding and line breeding. I have just as nice of BC Marans as anyone in the U.S. :) please don't ask for pictures it takes me too long to post them on here...

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Hello fellow BYC'ers! I have a question: I am a small hobbiest chicken breeder and each year I try to make my stock better for standards that apply but moslty vibrant egg colors. Apparently my dark egg line bred BC Marans roosters from last season made some F1 OE's with my blue wheaten...

So im starting an EE/Ameraucana/blue egg project

I did give up on the original project, I ended up crossing that best white hen that layed a blue egg I had to a pure blue wheaten ameraucana, I used that offspring hen, who looked almost exactly like a pure wheaten hen to my black copper rooster to produce first generation olive eggers. Now I'm...

Love this breed! But unfortunately I don't have the room to keep them. I have discovered that in my local area people don't preffer white eggs as the majority. I will be selling my entire flock in a couple weeks. These are the best of the best that I kept. I started out with about 30 birds. I...

I have bunches of healthy dark variety chicks I hatch to fill orders. Local pick up only though. And I don't ship eggs or chicks.

    Black Copper Marans discussion thread

Some of my second generation olive egger look EXACTLY like my BC maran chicks, I too sell chicks and I have to be careful to keep them seperate. I keep the OE's on a totally seperate hatching tray and then move them to a totally seperate brooder from my BC Marans,. I ask my customers if they...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

What animal control told you doesn't sound right at all. If that is what they said they just told you some BS to keep your neighbor from pestering them. If the law doesn't say anything against you having some chickens and you see other people who have a few. I would imagine that it IS fine for...

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Easy, just use a thumb tack and make one large hole on one side about the size of half a pencil eraser or maybe bigger and another pin size hole on the other side. I use a straw to blow the air into the smaller hole to force the yolk out of the larger hole. You have to get some pressure added...

i have an extra rooster for free in one of my jaer pens he's not a cull, he's a nice dark variety roo! local pick up only. apparently having only two in a pen with 7 hens is a bad idea. i'm just going to have one per pen for now.

thank you! and i do agree we need to multipy these neat birds! im on it! i saw someone ask if the chicks are a lil smaller, mine are now smaller but i think it's because they hatched from some of the very first eggs that my girls started laying. small egg=small chick :) another observation i...
