    Is Ivermectin recommended?

I got half a litre of Mectec at my local for about $45, so wasn't too bad luckily. The two that got scabs are my two heaviest chickens, which I think is a big contributer. I'll keep an eye out where they are digging to see if there's anything sharp though, thanks.

    Is Ivermectin recommended?

If anyone was curious, parents couldn't afford to get sugery for her ($450-$500+), so I gave her a cycle of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory, as well as a whole bunch of TLC. I removed the bumblefoot scab (couldn't find a kernel) and there doesn't look to be anymore signs of infection in her...

    Is Ivermectin recommended?

She's free of mites completely now but we also took her to the vet yesterday due to her inability to stand or walk. Turns out that it wasn't mites that was causing her inability to walk, but a bumblefoot infection that I thought I had fixed/treated back in Early-Mid February. Worst case scenario...

    Is Ivermectin recommended?

I've given her 0.4mL of cattle pour on Ivermectin today and I applied some Pestene to her yesterday (6th of April in Aus), I checked mid-day today and could find barely any mites on her or around her vent which was pleasing. However, her ability to walk/stand hasn't improved. On the 5th she...

    Is Ivermectin recommended?

I have given her some red meat, she only ate 2 strips and then wasn't interested. So I'm thinking its her reduced apetite from not being well and also maybe because she's not used to having red meat since it is her first time eating it. I'll be going into town tomorrow to get some ivermectin...

    Is Ivermectin recommended?

Hey everyone, I've got a 4 year old Australorp girl that isn't walking properly, she seems quite weak and her muscles tremor slightly when she does try to walk (a symptom of the weakness I'd imagine). I took her inside and checked her and she has a pretty bad mite infestation (mites on nearly...

    This is Bumblefoot, right?

Thank you for the advice :) I've tried with tweezers three times now (after an epsom salt bath) and I still can't pull any kernel/core of the infection out, it almost like I can't get underneath the scab to help pull it off, unfortunately. I've still been monitoring it though, and spraying the...

    This is Bumblefoot, right?

Update: I gave her a 40 minute warm Epsom salt bath but I checked her foot and no scab was falling off. I did have tweezers but didn't want to do any invasive digging to get anything off. I sprayed it with vetericyn nonetheless and I'm just going to monitor it and see if it's getting worse or...

    This is Bumblefoot, right?

Hi, I just caught sight of this on my 5 year old Australorp, I'm pretty sure it is Bumblefoot but just came here to confirm, also curious how bad it is and if my treatment will be enough. I'm planning on giving her a warm epsom salt bath to soften the scab, take the scab off, apply Vetericyn...

Help - French Hen bottom issue

Just an update if anyone is curious, I applied hydrocortisone twice or three times a day, cleaning the prolapsed cloaca with warm sterile water as much as possible. After 3-4 days, to my absolutely surprise, the prolapsed cloaca went back to normal all by itself. She's been fully introduced back...

Help - French Hen bottom issue

Ok, the vet managed to fit the prolapsed cloaca back in, she said it prolapsed again afterwards, and I've taken her home and it prolapsed again. They said they used a glucose solution on the prolapsed cloaca, any ideas how I could make an equivalent version? I tried early to put it back in...

Help - French Hen bottom issue

Hi, thank you so much for the info. I'm taking her to the vet today. Is the prolapsed vent injured at all judging by the picture?

Help - French Hen bottom issue

Hi guys, my French Hen (4 years old) wasn't eating as much as she usually does and was acting quite withdrawn. Her bottom had a lot of poo on it and I discovered what is pictured below. I'm not sure if she's trying to push it out or if it is part of her cloaca. She's currently being bathed in...
